Specialty Hospitals of America Appoints Mid-Atlantic Group VP


WASHINGTON - (Dec. 11, 2006) Specialty Hospitals of America, LLC (SHA), has appointed Susan P. Bailey MPA, RN to the position of vice president for the Mid-Atlantic Group. Ms. Bailey assumes this role in addition to her responsibilities as CEO of Specialty Hospitals of Washington (SHW), which has two Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) facilities within the D.C. region.

In announcing this promotion, SHA President Eric Rieseberg praised Ms. Bailey for the progress that SHW has made in increasing the level of patient acuity and developing relationships with physicians that refer patients to the hospitals. "Susan is a leader who inspires and delivers excellence throughout our hospitals," stated Rieseberg. "Through her efforts, the work that is taking place within our walls is getting the recognition it deserves in the greater medical community."

Ms. Bailey joined SHA in May 2006, bringing more than 30 years' experience in healthcare management and operations, including ten years working for Kindred Healthcare as CEO at LTAC facilities. She received her nursing degree from the United Hospital School of Nursing, Port Chester, NY, her Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and her Masters of Public Administration from the University of New Mexico.

SHA develops and operates Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospitals, a specialized category of healthcare facilities that focus on caring for patients with medically complex needs that require a high level of nursing and specialized medical technology.
