Company to buy long-term acute-care hospital in D.C.

Specialty Hospitals of America, Portsmouth, N.H., a management firm formed in 2002, said it intends to make MedLink Hospital and Nursing Center, a long-term acute-care hospital in Washington, its first purchase.

Specialty Hospitals of America, Portsmouth, N.H., a management firm formed in 2002, said it intends to make MedLink Hospital and Nursing Center, a long-term acute-care hospital in Washington, its first purchase. Terms weren't disclosed. The deal requires local regulatory approval, which the companies said they expect in 30 days to 60 days. MedLink, owned by a physician, has 60 long-term acute-care beds and 117 nursing-home beds. Specialty Hospitals said it does not currently operate any facilities. -- by Tony Fong
